The Travel Mug

A couple of weeks ago a vendor comes in to show us some new products. They do their speech, show some Power Point presentation blah blah blah. It was actually a pretty good product. Once they come on the market we'll probably use a bunch of them. But I digress.

At the end of the presentation they pull out this Travel mug stamped with their company logo. It was a pretty nice looking travel mug. Now there are 3 of us (Bossman, Pudding, and myself) and only one travel mug. The Bossman loves swag/ anything free. In fact in his mind its a prerequisite that if you're to come into our place of business, he better be getting something out of it. One of the vendors give the mug to Bossman and says "You can decide who gets this." Bossman gives it to Pudding who then gives it to me. I don't care one way or the other, but since I'm last in line, sure, I'll take it. So I take it back with me to my desk, place it somewhere out of the way and get back to work. It was about 10 am.

For the rest of the day Bossman makes a point of coming around my desk, picking up the mug, remarking about what a great mug it is, puts it down and walks away. About the 4th time he does this he says "This would be a really great mug, except for the handle on the side. I didn't take it because of the handle." So now everytime he comes by my desk, he's trying to wiggle the handle off. Right around 1:30 he decided he wanted the mug. He must have it. He made a mistake giving it to Pudding, who gave it to me. Without any word to me, he takes the mug from my desk for good. Taking the mug to the back shop he gets our shop guy (Bossman Jr. - his son) to get rid of the handle. Bossman Jr. successfully gets the handle off, and Bossman comes trotting back with a smile on his face and his brand new handle-free travel mug.

This was about a month ago. I have since never seen him use this mug for anything. I am staring at it right now, sitting on his filing cabinet. Useless.

For about 3 hours, that mug was mine.
